RISE World Summit
A special one-day training session was conducted on 18th January 2024, from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM, at MET College, Bandra. It was planned as a pre event activity under the RISE World Summit 2024. The session aimed to enhance the organizational capacity of the grassroot staff of MahaPECOnet NGO members. Facilitated by the experienced resource person and Sr. Associate MahaPECOnet Mansi Gamre. The training focused on essential skills related to teamwork, time management and effective project management.
The primary objectives of the training session were as follows:
- Understand the dynamics of working in a team.
- Learn effective time management strategies.
- Identify where to channel efforts for maximum impact.
- Foster problem-solving skills.
- Develop effective communication within the team.
- Cultivate leadership qualities and a sense of ownership.
- Appreciate and acknowledge team members.
Session Overview: The training session adopted an activity-based and participatory approach, involving both MahaPECOnet NGO members and MET volunteers. Participants engaged in a series of brainstorming activities, challenges and tasks to acquire the targeted skills.
The participants actively participated in the following skills throughout the session:
- Strategies and techniques to approach and resolve challenges effectively.
- Active listening, comprehension and taking appropriate actions based on understanding.
- Importance of regularly reviewing plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- strengthen the bonds among team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Effective leadership and ownership of their roles and responsibilities.
- Recognizing and appreciating the contributions of team members
- Insights into understanding the strengths, weaknesses and roles of each team member for better collaboration.
- Strategies for effective time management, emphasizing prioritization and goal setting.
- Clear and open communication within the team was emphasized, along with practical communication exercises.
The training session proved to be a valuable opportunity for the grassroot staff of MahaPECOnet NGO to enhance their skills and capabilities also, leading the member engagement into the MahPECOnet thematics. Got very positive feedback from the members and students regarding the training.
Youth Awareness Session on Disaster Preparedness

Session Summary:
A comprehensive session on disaster preparedness, focusing on first aid and rescue techniques, was organized at MET Bandra for management students by the RISE Infinity Foundation-MahaPECOnet Secretariat. The event was conducted in collaboration with Civil Defense experts and DDMA’s Aapda Mitra Thane. The session aimed to empower youth with essential skills to effectively respond to emergencies and disasters.
Dr. Nirmala Joshi introduced the expert panel to the students, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in disaster preparedness. Shilpa Shirwadkar from the MahaPECOnet team hosted the session. The expert panel provided a detailed overview of first aid and rescue techniques, including demonstrations of various types of bandages, Knot tying techniques, Rescue and carrying methods. Over 25 students actively participated in hands-on practical sessions. A total of 40 students attended the session, displaying a keen interest in disaster preparedness. Students expressed curiosity and eagerness to learn additional techniques and tricks for search and rescue operations. Some students indicated interest in organizing similar sessions in the future to contribute to the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) task force.
The enthusiastic response from the participants and their expressed interest in future sessions indicates a growing awareness and commitment to being active contributors to the DRR efforts. The collaboration between educational institutions, experts and organizations has laid a foundation for continued engagement in promoting community resilience.
RIF-UNICEF India Roundtable on PECOSystems Innovation for Inter-Sectoral Coordination
The Roundtable was organized at the RISE World Summit on January 16, 2024, at the Nehru Science Centre in Mumbai, Maharashtra, convened by UNICEF India and RISE Infinity Foundation, showcased the PECOSystems Innovation for Inter-Sectoral Coordination. Moderated by Sarbjit Singh Sahota and Karon Shaiva, the hybrid event aimed to replicate the PECO model across regions, fostering multistakeholder coalitions to address climate change and disaster-related issues. Following the RWS 5C structure, discussions delved into challenges, capabilities, collaborations, and future steps, yielding actionable recommendations and identifying critical success factors. Special invitees and experts, including Tom White, Sarabjit Sahota, Yusuf Kabir and Mayank Gandhi enriched the dialogue, leading to outcomes such as increased commitment within MahaPECOnet and the identification of sustainable DRR coordination mechanisms. The event’s hybrid format facilitated broad engagement, emphasizing the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration in driving resilience agendas.


Katta training session as part of RWS24
MahaPECO Katta, as the name suggests, is a social platform for the UNICEF MahaPECOnet coalition users. This platform has been developed with the primary objective of helping the MahaPECOnet members network amongst themselves for various peacetime initiatives regarding disaster management.
This platform is integrated with the MahaPECOnet website and will be available only to registered users who will need to login into the platform using their own credentials. This will ensure that only authorized users will have access to the platform and the data of the members available on the site.
