In the wake of heavy rains that lashed the Wardha district in July2022, numerous villages were inundated, and citizens were forced to evacuate to safer locations. The devastating floodwaters wreaked havoc on homes, causing significant losses of food grains and essential items. Among the worst affected were the residents of Hinganghat, Samudrapur, Arvi, and Deoli talukas, whose lives were disrupted by the calamity. Recognizing the urgent need to assist these flood-affected communities, Sahyadri Foundation, Nagpur\u2014a member organization of MahaPECOnet\u2014reached out to the MahaPECOnet Secretariat, appealing for support.<\/span><\/p>\n

MahaPECOnet promptly gathered all the necessary information and granted preliminary approval for the distribution of safety kits in collaboration with United Way Mumbai and Amazon. These comprehensive safety kits were designed to address the immediate needs of the affected families. The kits included essential items such as bath soap (2), nylon mosquito net (1), candles (6), plastic sheets (1), a 16-liter bucket (1), laundry soap (2), cotton masks (4), plastic tarpaulin sheets (1), and sanitary pads (6), among other items.
\nWith the approval of 820 safety kits by Amazon, Sahyadri Foundation coordinated with Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal (MAVIM) Wardha, the local police administration, and the Gram Panchayat to organize the distribution efforts. The honorable Dr. Sachin Ombase (IAS), Chief Executive Officer of Wardha Zilla Parishad, graciously inaugurated the safety kit distribution campaign. He flagged off the distribution vehicle and expressed his gratitude to the organizations involved for their invaluable assistance.
\nWith the collaborative efforts of Sahyadri Foundation, the local administration, and support from MahaPECOnet, United Way Mumbai, and Amazon, the safety kits reached the flood-affected families in a timely manner. The distribution was meticulously planned, ensuring that the kits reached those who needed them the most. The families, immensely grateful for the support, immediately began utilizing the items provided to rebuild their lives.
\nA total of 2,867 family members residing in Hinganghat, Samudrapur, and Arvi talukas benefited from the provision of these safety kits. The gesture of solidarity and assistance extended to them during their time of distress offered solace and renewed hope for a better future.
